Overall – this company is a complete scam. Please do not make the mistake of giving them your credit card info. It took me 6 months to resolve this with my bank. You will get NOTHING for the monelyyou pay, and I dont mean a bad service I mean NOTHING. If you want details read on…
About 8 months ago a rep from a UK based company called New Mount Media contacted me to pitch me on a new social media marketing concept. He explained in a very convincing manner than his company has been working in various forms of online marketing and are experts in targeted social media marketing. Since I have been running facebook ads for my fitness company for a while, I was interested being a local business it was important that I get a very targeted audiance to respond to my ads. He explained that his company developed an app for facebook which lets them target the audience not only by demographics but what they are currently discussing and searching for
….. So for my market (women, who may be interested in weight loss in Toronto), would be prested my ad. It sounded very interesting and after a lot of back and forth I agree dto give them a try. One of the things they also promised was they would (as a bonus) provide me with 1000 extra facebook likes to my pages (which would be collecetd organixcally, and specially targeted). The rep was very persistant in explaining how they dont make money off this special offe rthey are giving me (th e contract was on a monthly basis), so he said teh first month to them is at a loss because of the grpahics they had to develop and create my camaign, but it was worth it becaue they are more interested in keepign me as a logn term custtomer and they new they would because I woudl get great results. Finally they promised monthly reports and that I would be in touch with an account rep to get set up.
So teh agreement was they would do 50,000 impressions of my ad (again very targeted) and 100o facebook likes over amonth for around $315 (USD).
And this is what they delivered:
1. Facebook likes – yes I got about 1000 new likes of fake facebook accounts overnight (you can see that each profile that “liked: my page was created on the same date and had no history in their profile, just basically a fake facebook page) This is useless.
2. The Facebook ad- they emailed me a stock photo with the word “Health” on it and something on the lines of Get HEalthy Today or something completly general fo rmy ad. I send them a picture and ad copy that was more appropriate.
That was it for our contact forabout a month. I did not see wher emy ad was running, and I watched my analytics carefully and saw no change on my web traffic. I do quite a bit of online advertising and monitor everything. I reache dout to them asking who my account rep and for a report serveral times over the next few weeks and got no reply.
Finally, I told them I am cancelling fo rthe next month and want a refund because I did not see the service was delivered. The sales rep called me back (by teh way this seems to be th eonly person who would speak with me) and told me they will run my capiagn free for another 30 days. I explained that I need some, any kind of proof that they ran this ad. AGAIN, he culd not provide me anything.
After many months of trying to get myt money back between them and my bank this finally got resolved (6 months later). You can understand, not many poeple have time to chase $300, or spend time writing these reports, but I just felt I needed to do justise here.
Please be careful! They send you a non refundable contract (one of those 10 pafe contracts that no one really reads – and yes I shoudl have), so it becomes difficult to get your bank to take your side. Luckly I have never in 20 years Ive been with my bank disputed a charge and finally after a LOT of back and forth with this vendor the bank refunded my money.
Having being approached by new mount media’s MD and being promised all , i asked for an e-commerce website and all SEO and paid £6000.00+ i got in return a very basic website of which i had to do at least 80% of the work on it they set about a facebook advertising campaine to promote the business which i did not want in the first place but they did it anyway saying it was the best way to get more sales which it did not , they did not produce any proof of the advertisement stats, they took money for PR9 links still no proof given i asked for a program/plugin to be added to the website which was not done, i have been pataint with this company giveing them over 6 months to complete and im left with just a website that i basically did myself, asked if i would recommend this company “h*** no” they are totally untrust worthy and will take every last penny from you given the chance,
We are a small family business and trying hard to make a good company in these hard times without being ripped of by new mount media and alike
happened to be contacted by a sale reps from New Mount Media who offered me a facebook marketing campaign offer for my business, at this point I had no website for my business as I was starting up.
I took the offer as I wanted to start marketing my life coach services on any platform to get exposed and get online as every business would. At this point, I wasn’t told by the rep that I would require a website. He just went and put the transaction through and promised that the campaign will be run. The next day, I had a call from a guy called Steve King (aka Jack Mason) who was one developers so he introduced himself and told me that in order to run the facebook campaign I would require a website. For a start-up business I thought I might as well. Anyway the website was built (again very pricey compared to what I saw advertised on the People Per Hour or Elance) and the campaign were put to run. I had a few campaign through New Mount Media, I never had a client through the campaign. I still get calls to put in more campaigns, which I later stopped as I have had too many on the marketting front without any leads or clients! I decided on a different strategy to make an audio telling people what I do and how I can help them. As I put transcripts and record my voice ready for sending the files to New Mount Media for upload on my site. I was advise by Steve King (aka Jack Mason) that this is his area of expertise and that he can do the audio (or voice over as was referred) with their top range in-house software application to make it more professional. I only need to pay £1200 and it will be ready in 2 weeks in Feb 2014. Until this day I am STILL waiting for what was meant to be 2 weeks work now 3 months+ and STILL WAITING!
I am constanly having to chase New Mount Media via (Naiomi Shimmin) on the progress the work after being told that work was 90% completed on 10th April and will receive on 13th April (3 days after), its taking another 2 months+ to complete the rest 10%.
I only want what I paid for and what I was promised, if you can’t deliver I want a refund to what I owe, surely it can’t be that hard. I would really appreciate any advise from anyone who has been through similar ordeal with New Mount Media.
Testimonial on New Mount Media Website- I gave a testimonial a few months ago which is now on New Mount Media site after the development of the website, not for any other service. Note: I have since re-design the website and moved my hosting to a different provider.
After I paid I had no contact from them for several weeks – I chased them, I called them, I emailed them, I tried contacting them through linkedin – I spoke with the original sales guy (Scott Edge) and he kept on saying I needed to speak with my account manager (Naiomi Shimmin) – she never took my calls, returned my messages or resonded to my emails. After another couple of weeks I was fed up – I contacted their MD (Samuel Paul) through linkedin – no response – I then tried their marketing manager – michael kirby. He got back to me saying he would love to help with this and after trying to change my mind agreed that I should eb due a refund but I probably woudln’t get it as they woudl have already spent some of the money on the campaign (which I had not received or agreed to yet).
Also kept on being asked had I e-signed the project form – I had not received this in any case and by now would not have signed it.
I then also got an email from Naiomi Shimmin with a lot of lies in it saying she had tried to contact me several times (she had my personal mobile number, my office number, I had emailed her with no response and tried linkedin) – total lies.
Anyway a few more weeks on and no more contact from them. They are rip off merchants of the highest degree.
Hassled me a lot, promised a lod, delivered nothing, ignored me and refused to give me a refund.
Thankfully I hadn’t given them too much money but it was still too much.
Avoid anything to do with this company or these people. They are liers and just out to rip people off.
We were contacted by this company in the spring of 2014, right at a time when we were anxious to promote our company more online than we had previously ever done so.
We were offered what sounded like a very good campaign and we accepted their offer only to be followed by a series of upsells which also sounded to be very reasonable and necessary.
We were promised that artwork would be produced quickly, but delay after delay followed, and after being put off time after time with a string of excuses.
They eventually became totally uncontactable with the phone just ringing out.
Their website and phone lines are still live but no one ever answers messages.
Please DO NOT hand over any money this business until you have seen that they have carried out the work for you.
We are a very small division of a large company based in Rochester and we have very little budget for anything like Marketing or a “Fancy Website” but we had a call from a guy called Sam Paul who promised us a fantastic website that would put our products in front of the right people and ofcourse make us more profitable.
After spending 20 minutes – 30 minutes talking to Sam and listening to him telling me how amazing our products were and how we could also benefit from some Social Media Marketing and how he can create us a facebook page which he could also generate 100,000 likes within a 3 month period from our “target audiance” I started to see how this could really benefit my division.
I went to my Director and managed to get £3500 signed off for this service and I am yet to see a single thing, The phone constantly rings out, The assistant never gets back to me when she says she will and I have my Director breathing down my neck for results.
We have decided to write this off as abad experience and it hasn’t really affected things too much for me or our Business but for those small companies out there please stay well clear of Sam Paul and the New Mount Media team!
